Just found this guy through one of the many blogs I follow on google reader He has a background in architecture, which is awesome from my perspective because I can (sort of) relate being from a CAD/GIS/Mapping/Cartographic background myself, I draw on the logic behind those computer programs when thinking about composition and the end product. It also reminded me to keep working towards a side goal I have of introducing mapping into one of my quilts on a large scale one day.. after I get a few other projects out of the way!  :)
Check out his website HERE or click on the quilt he made below to learn more about it.

Below is my attempt at a photo inspired quilt I made a good few years ago. The link to my project page for this is HERE if you want to read more about this!

Hope you are having a great weekend, and all the State side folk are recovering nicely after their Thanksgiving Day!
Take care!

Better late than never

Better late than never, otherwise known as "Dear Mr UPS, thank you, I think."
I had an order for some goodies, and they were due to arrive some time today, but being at work, was all prepared to do the dance with the courier around re-delivery or pick up options etc.
I got home and still nothing.. no worries, the website says residences packages can be delivered up to 7pm (or later) weird, but okay..
So "the otherhalf" and I were just sitting down to play Dota2 (a computer game) together, and knock knock, 7.40pm, helloo.. here it is!
Lucky! When you pay extra for a faster delivery you'd hope it comes on time esp when tracked (only because if I'd have waited for snail mail it might have coincided quite closely with another fairly important pending date)

So I finally got to do my excited "omg its here" wriggle before opening the parcel

Yes I did it.. I bought a few of the V and Co.'s jelly rolls!
what to do?! ...

Ribbons of Hope update

Last week mum and I made it into Starship Childrens Hospital to deliver my Ribbons of Hope quilt into the Oncology department. It was a lovely visit, I'm so happy it has ended up living there, it is definately where it belongs.
(left to right) Me, "the quilt", Dr Jane Skeen, Mum (Linda)

I'm off to Starship this week!

This coming Wednesday I can finally deliver my quilt " Ribbons of hope " to its rightful owners!  I'm looking forward to gifting this quilt and catching up with my oncologist from when I was younger.. its been probably somewhere in the vicinity of 15 years since I've seen her or been up to that ward (now at Starship Childrens Hospital in Auckland NZ), so its pretty neat to revisit that little section of my life.

I'm off to un-roll it and let it breathe for a few days, as well as get the lint brush onto it.. gotta love that black cotton!
Have a great week ahead!

Lovin the colour!

Now its no secret I'm addicted to Pinterest and I love all the quilting inspiration I gather from there...
this one just couldn't wait to get to you through the natural courses of internet whats hot or not
So it might have been out for a little while, but I'm loving the new colours that are out there at the moment..
Specifically this range from V and Co
The ombre range of their fabrics are shown in their quilt below (pattern here)

ok, you can leave me now to swoon over the colour combo above .. see you next time !

Hi Everyone,

Today the boys are over for a computer gaming day, so I might put some time into my next quilt!! Any excuse :)
